Not quite complete scores for today.....

Still got a few people out on retrieve...

Saturday 30th June

They're out on task at the moment. 2.5 hours AAT, EDG-NOW (100km sector)-TOW-CGT-EDG.
They've gone out to the North East as we have an easterly and some predicted cu.
Party night tonight - Disco & fancy dress in the hangar.

Friday Quiz night

Our quiz was very well attended as usual so we moved to the hangar due to the extreme heat (photos of the temporary Shenington Lido later!). Many thanks to Paul & Lucy for organising the evening. (This year's controversial question related to the A1, for those who remember 'Parrotgate'). After the quiz many competitors fell back to the bar & clubhouse where they started a jamming session with piano & guitars.....zzzzzz

Friday 29th June

We initially set an AAT expecting it to be a more difficult day - a lower predicted 'cloud base' (no clouds!), more wind, later start, etc. As conditions failed to develop we eventually fell back to a short racing task, then scrubbed. A couple of people have gone flying, the rest have run for the shade.

Quiz night tonight!

Latest Scores for Thursday (Day 3)

Completed scores with fixed trace:

Thursday Prelim Results

A good day yesterday, most people got back, and there were clouds for a large part of the task.

Results for the day as below:

Thursday 28th June

Breaking news....we have cu appearing (and disappearing quickly, but evidence below!!):

Gliders are on the grid now and ready for first possible launch at 1pm. Sniffers are just launching. We have a 200km+ DHT set.

Wednesday, 27 June 2018

Latest....

The fog is going to clear, but conditions will be worse than yesterday so we have taken an early decision to scrub. Competition Forum in the hangar now, pig roast this evening, followed by a talk from Wing Commander Mike Pollitt on flying the Vulcan.

Wednesday 27th June

Rolled out of the tent to see a ghostly grid....

Tuesday....hot!!

Most of us went and hid in the shade.....yesterday was hot..........

Tuesday 26th June

Today an AAT was set, followed by a wait for the weather - mostly at the clubhouse close to shade and tea + cake.....We set two sniffers up today but neither had much luck - we watched with interest as Graham had to start his engine after a couple of hours, and Simon sank ever lower searching for usable lift for the comp field. We scrubbed mid afternoon and most pilots ran for shade. Rod Connors bravely set off on the fallback racing task, and very creditably got most of the way round before landing out on the final glide home. Just one more glide as they say.....

We had a great evening courtesy of Navboys who fed & 'beered' us, and also gave us a talk on flying abroad, and the use of various aviation kit to improve performance.
We're hoping for different weather tomorrow though it's forecast to be just as hot....

Monday 25th Scores & Totals

Hi All,

Sorry for the delay in posting these. Scores for yesterday and the totals so far:

Sunday 24th Scores

Scores for Day 1:

Sunday, 24 June 2018

Sunday 24th

Still in the high pressure. Less top cover predicted today, forecast soaring area predominantly out to the east and central, but conditions likely to be weak and blue. First launch not before noon.

Saturday evening

We had a BBQ in the evening, and were entertained by the 'Frontline Band' playing Reggae, and Paul mixing up some Caribbean cocktails....a mellow night was had by all.

Saturday, 23 June 2018

And it's a scrub....

Top cover spread...sniffer had some minor thermals but nothing good or high enough to launch the grid. Now everyone's fettling and parking up gliders. 'Caribbean night' later with BBQ, cocktails (maybe!) and a Reggae band.

AAT set - waiting for the weather.....

We have a 85-385km AAT Task set, now just a matter of waiting for the weather. There's a big lump of top cover sat over our region so we're grid squatting and eating lots of cake...

Saturday 23rd June - Day 1

The Regionals is open!
All is quiet on the airfield except for in Control. Looks like it will be a blueish day.....
